Retreat at Segyu Monastery, Kathmandu

A group of practitioners from Atish Dipankar Dhyan Kendra gathered for a meditation retreat at the Segyu Gaden Phodrang Monastery in Kathmandu, Nepal, from November 26 to December 3. Khen Lama Palden, the abbot of Segyu Monastery, and our gracious host Abby Citron ensured we had the best conditions for meditation practice.
In between the sessions, we had the opportunity to soak in the monastery ambience as the student monks went about with their studies in the courtyard and in the classrooms, practised the art of debating and played football in the breaks. On some days we joined the morning prayers led by the resident monks in the main gompa, with some steaming butter tea to keep the Himalayan chill away.
