Our Story
We are a group of meditation practitioners in the Mahayana tradition of Buddhism, based in Kolkata. Atish Dipankar Dhyan Kendra’s journey began in mid-2019 when a few members decided to meditate together and study the basics of Buddhism under the guidance of Dr Anindya Chatterjee, a Buddhist scholar and meditation practitioner of over three decades. During the Covid pandemic, the group went online and several others joined our study and meditation sessions.
Atish Dipankar Dhyan Kendra was registered as a public charitable trust in India in 2022 to help more people access Buddha’s teachings on how to live a meaningful life and make them widely available. The Dhyan Kendra is not affiliated to any institution, religious or political organisation.
We hold regular group study and drop-in meditation sessions in hybrid (in-person and online) mode. Join us at our meditation centre in Kolkata or online from any part of the world.
