Programmes on Buddha Purnima
Inaugural Programme
A special prayer was held at the Dhyan Kendra in Salt Lake on May 5 afternoon on the auspicious occasion of Buddha Purnima.
In the evening, the celebration shifted to Aikatan auditorium at Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre in Salt Lake where the Atish Dipankar Dhyan Kendra Trust was formally launched. The Dhyan Kendra’s website was also unveiled in the presence of well-wishers, friends, families and members. Many joined online from various parts of the country.
The programme at Aikatan consisted of a keynote speech by our teacher Anindya Chatterjee on ‘Atish Dipankar’s decade-long sojourn in Suvarnadwip and its impact’, recitation of verses from Shantideva’s Bodhicharyavatara, a sitar recital and a recitation of Rabindranath Tagore’s poem Abhisaar along with a flute recital. The audience was introduced to the Dhyan Kendra’s objectives, activities and visions for the future, while a few members shared their thoughts and experiences. There was joy, peace and hope as expressed by many in the audience.
