Buddha Jayanti 2026
The Buddha Jayanti celebration will begin with the Liberating Prayer, to be followed by chanting of the Heart Sutra in Sanskrit by Dr Ujjaini Srimani. Next up will be guided meditation by our teacher Dr Anindya Chatterjee.
The highlight of the evening is a conversation with Dr Anindya Chatterjee on the topic ‘Finding Inner Stability in Uncertain Times: Through Buddha’s Teachings’. The session will be in English and Bengali, to be moderated by Dr Anuttama Banerjee. There will be a Q&A after the conversation with questions from the audience.
This will be followed by a brief showcase of Atish Dipankar Dhyan Kendra’s journey and initiatives.

Buddha’s Teachings and Mental Wellbeing - A Dialogue
Atish Dipankar Dhyan Kendra is organising a series of online consultative seminars addressing rising mental health concerns in today’s fast-paced, stressful world. From a Buddhist perspective, the pressures of modern life can fuel distraction and agitation, reducing opportunities for reflection and spiritual grounding. The seminars will explore how the Buddha’s teachings — especially mindfulness and meditation — can support mental wellbeing in safe, ethical and context-appropriate ways within the Indian subcontinent.
The series focuses on three themes: Therapeutic Care, Caring Communities and Self-care for Carers. It is designed for mental health professionals, students, and members of the public interested in mental health and meditation/mindfulness (Buddhist or secular). Discussions will examine where contemplative practices can complement clinical care, where limits are necessary and what gaps remain, while also highlighting community support to reduce isolation, and practical self-care to prevent burnout. The series will conclude with a shared, practical map of emerging approaches grounded in the Buddha’s teachings.
