Buddha Purnima Celebrations

Celebrating Buddha Purnima on May 23 was a happy occasion for Atish Dipankar Dhyan Kendra as many of our friends, friends of friends and family members poured into the Naatghar auditorium at Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre, Salt Lake, for an evening of prayers, music and introspection.

The evening began with a screening of the delightful Nepali film Karma, followed by a special prayer to Buddha Shakyamuni that was sung in Bengali and English. After a guided meditation session conducted by our teacher and ADDK managing trustee Dr Anindya Chatterjee, it was time for the evening’s final segment — a sitar recital by Bidisha Sanyal, with Abhijit Kastho on the tabla. In between, there was of course a long break for all those gathered to catch up over tea and telebhaja.
